Web Presence for SMBs – Pt. 1

My Great Web page

“My business is very small, just me and two employees, and our product really can’t be sold online. Do i really need a website?”

Big question!

I will share a quote from Bill Gates, the Chairman of Microsoft, “Soon, there will only be two kinds of businesses: those online, and those out of business”

In the internet age, there’s no greater risk than being left behind. So should your business have a website, even if your business is small and sells products and services you don’t think can be sold online?

Nowadays, there’s hardly any product or service that can’t be sold online as  about 40% of consumers search for information on products and services before they make buying decisons.

However, it is not enough to just have a website. You must have a professional looking website. your website is the first impression a new potential internet consumer will get.

Benefits of having a well designed website.

  • It saves you time and money. Your website will always be available 24/7. You can publish all information about your business on your website and that reduces or eliminates the cost of printing handbills and brochures.
  • A well designed website  will help you sell more. Your website will always be accessible when your customers need product information. That way, you can make money even while sleeping.
  • with a website, your business can be listed  in various online business directories like Google trader, eBay, Alibaba, etc
  • A well designed website will make your business appear more professional and more trustworthy before your potential customers.Trisat has attracted international patronage because of our well designed and professional looking website.

What type of website is suitable for my business?

There are basically two types of websites:

Static Websites: This is the simplest form of website. A static website contains Web pages with fixed content. Each page is coded in HTML and displays the same information to every visitor. They do not require any programming or database design. They are good for businesses that just want to provide information on their products and services. They are more or less like a billboard or brochure.

Dynamic websites: Dynamic web pages are the pages that change dynamically. Dynamic web pages can change every time when they are loaded without making any changes. Dynamic web pages can also change their content based on what user does, like clicking on some text or an image. If the information stored in the database changes, the web page connected to the database change accordingly and automatically without human intervention. Dynamic websites are suitable for businesses that make a lot of changes to their content.

In this internet age, there’s no greater risk than being left behind!
